Review: Teaching Receptive and Productive Skills

Introduction [5 min]

Go over plan for the day and make sure that everyone received and understood my feedback. 

Take any questions on the graded homework and remind them of their last task- Chapter 5 Task 2

Tense Presenter [15 min]

Ensure that everyone who has already gone has their grade on this task

Review Young Learners [10 min]

Have students go into small groups and try to recall some key components of the last lesson. Share with the class and then hand out the Young Learners review that gives ideas on different tasks that can be done with them. 

Review Skills
To review teaching of each of the four skills, place students into small groups and give each activities from an ESL textbook that have a focus on each skill. Have the students then work together to map out how they would set up the activity. They must include a pre, during, and post approach to practicing that skill. They should get out of their desks and map out their pre-, during, and post activity on the board for all to see.

Writing   30 min


Depending on time, have all or some of the groups explain how they would run this activity in a class. As a follow up to each skill, Give the students a handout that includes Pre, During, and Post as well as Sample Activities.

Textbook Scavenger Hunt
Place students into teams and give them at least 40-60 minutes to look through the ESL textbook library to complete the charts. Encourage them to find at least one for each category. Then, allow students time to look through what the other team has found.
